Elaine Smooker: Tickets for Two to Attend "Mindful Martinis" in Toronto

Item Number: 605
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Picture between 60 and 80 people silently practising mindfulness in a bar and learning to anchor their attention in their martini. That's the basis for Elaine Smooker's Mindful Martinis evenings at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto. The successful bidder for this item will receive tickets for two to attend the event.
Elaine Smookler, faculty at The Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto, devised bar-based mindfulness training thinking "it would be kind of cool to see what it would be like to teach and practice mindfulness in a bar - because, why not? And since my background is singing and performance, adding music and humour to the mix seemed like a fun idea. When my friend, the amazing jazz master Nancy Walker agreed to accompany me, and the Gladstone gave this a thumbs up, a wild and weird shared experience was born." Listen here for a interview with Elaine about "Mindful Martinis" produced and aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's network radio show Tapestry.
Elaine has been practicing mindfulness for 20 years. As a professional performer, writer and teacher she has used mindfulness as the subject of her work. She is the co-author of the upcoming book, Killers, Coffins & Cadavers: A Humorous guide to Death and Dying, a comedic take on the details of death. She has contributed to a variety of publications and projects on the subject of mindfulness.
