As the nation's foremost theatrical producer of Shakespeare and new work, The Public Theater is dedicated to achieving artistic excellence while developing an American theater that is accessible and relevant to all people through productions of challenging new plays, musicals and innovative stagings of the classics.
Each summer, thousands flock to the Delacorte Theater in Central Park to experience the productions of Shakespeare, other classics, and newer American works that comprise the Shakespeare in the Park season. For over fifty years, The Public Theater has been dedicated to bringing relevant and challenging productions in the Park to the people of New York City, nurturing both artists and a spirit of community among audiences.
