About the artist from http://www.isabellejacopin.com/About.asp

Isabelle Jacopin lives and works in the Dordogne region of Southwest France where she has her own gallery. She travels widely and loves to capture the sights and scenes that strike her, in vivid pastels, oils and acrylics.

Over the past 30 years, Jacopin has held many positions and lots of interest in the arts. Before discovering her love of pastels, she worked in interior design and clothing design, theatre set décor and developing murals and posters. She keeps her "book" with her at all times and fills it with sketches from visits to the French countryside and trips around the world. She is inspired by everything she loves, including jazz, flowers, people, chocolate cake, fine wine, bright colors and travel. Much of her inspiration also comes from nature.

Jacopin’s pastels are striking and bold. Applied on high grade pastel paper that resembles sand paper, her strokes are quick, fluid and confident, capturing the spontaneity of the moment with decisive and vivid color and texture. Some of her pictures are almost abstract, with just a hint of swirling wind across fields of color. Others are more realistic and easily identifiable, such as her flower markets or street scenes. All of them are arresting and beautiful, drawing you in without confrontation.

In the artist’s words: "I'm easily influenced ... I paint in my studio, on the street, in the countryside, in public places, without being tempted to deliver a message. I just want to paint all people and things! I hope the paintings speak for themselves. For me the act of painting is physical as well as spiritual: I just want people to enjoy them!"
