About the Artist from http://www.lindseymeyers.com/about.php

Lindsey Meyers is a self-taught 35mm photographer and mixed-media artist, originally from the Northeast suburbs of Chicago. She has been living and working in Logan Square for ten years and has taught both preschool and middle school.

Her artistic pursuits brought her to The Chicago Academy for the Arts and the Steppenwolf Theater, as well as the Joel Hall Dance Center. She graduated with an Honors degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California and is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, from whom she derives inspiration by simply being in their presence.

“Photography unexpectedly put all of the pieces of my life together in a very rapid and powerful way,” says Meyers. She quickly realized how “one photo of one moment can move one person,” so she decided to share these images- many of which she describes as “happy accidents”.

Meyers’ mixed media pieces are “the result of a random trip to the art supply store and years and years of writing and scribbling musings on whatever available surface I could find.” Her mixed media work has been evolving as of late through the use of new materials; found objects such as acrylic boxes, slip dresses and frames made of wood and nails.

Meyers held her solo photography and mixed media exhibition "The Mermaid and The Dragon" in January 2013, and is currently curating This Was Supposed to Help at Beauty & Brawn Art Gallery and Think Space. She was chosen to participate in the inaugural SEED Chicago Kickstarter project with the Mayor's office last spring, and was highlighted as a SCORE Chicago Featured Business Owner. Meyers is also an ambassador for the Chicago Ideas Week CIW Co-Op, and is involved in various charity and neighborhood-focused events in the Logan Square community.

Lindsey opened Beauty & Brawn in March of 2012, and keeps herself very busy curating, teaching and running the gallery.
