About the Artist:
Artist and filmmaker Celia L. Mercer works primarily with encaustic paint & collage, creating complex images through layering of paint and found materials. Encaustic (“to burn”), one of the most ancient of art forms, is a hot-wax technique in which pigmented beeswax is melted, hardened, and fused - layer upon layer, until the desired effect is attained. The layered effects achieved with encaustic underscores the feeling of mystery and depth in some works; encases and memorializes in others. Whether in animated film, or in painting, Mercer challenges the viewer to see the familiar in new or unexpected ways. When she’s not painting, Mercer is a professor at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, and head of the UCLA Animation Workshop.

If the winner is a member of the Los Encinos School community, no shipping charge will be assessed, and the winner may pick the item up at Los Encinos School once a distribution day is announced (approx 5 days after the auction closes and payments are processed).
For other winning bidders, a shipping charge of $6.00 will be added to the winning bid for this item. The item will be shipped by USPS priority flat rate with tracking once the auction is closed and payment has been processed (If one bidder wins multiple items, we will attempt to consolidate shipping and reduce charges. Based on size, shape and packaging of some items, this may not always be possible).
