 A small quilted wall hanging (approximately 15" by 18") depicting a whale swimming happily along in the dappled underwater light.

The image is done in an intricate applique, each piece of seaweed, wave, and detail of the whale cut individually.

The whale is made out of dupioni silk and a beautifully textured Japanese indigo fabric.

The seaweed and waves are made out of dupioni silk. The background is a batik cotton in varying hues of blue and green that suggests a dreamy underwater environment.

The piece is bordered in a chartreuse dupioni silk, filled with thin cotton batting, and backed in linen.

The free motion quilting is done in a subtle circle pattern in purple thread. A sleeve is hand-stitched to the back for easy display. Signed with the artist's initials in thread.
