Description

One week of lodging at the Mision de los Arcos hotel in Oaxaca, Mexico - recent winner of Trip Advisor Travelers' Choice for Best Bargain Hotel in Mexico

Mision de los Arcos is a small, family-run hotel located on the town square in Huatulco, just minutes away from the beach. The hotel's friendly owners, Sherry & Sam, along with their wonderful staff, welcome you to their own slice of heaven on Mexico's Pacific coast.

Details abound throughout the hotel offering a distinctive touch of Mexico. Wrought-iron tables and chairs, inlaid-pebble floor designs, sponge painted walls, handmade fountains and tropical foliage make Misión de los Arcos a welcome haven among travelers. Wide, arched porticos provide a shady, sitting area for one to sip locally grown coffee and enjoy the relaxed rhythm of the coast. Bougainvillea, hibiscus, ferns and palms are just some of the varieties of plants found extensively around the hotel. They create a lush, tropical feel that exemplifies the natural beauty of Huatulco and southern Mexico.

Review from the 2012 Winning Bidder:

We had already visited Huatulco the easy way, staying in an all-inclusive resort, and we wanted to be a little more independent this time. When a week in Mision de los Arcos came up on an auction and we saw it was ranked #1 on TA it seemed too good to be true. We checked the reviews and their website and decided to give it a try. We won the auction and, boy, are we glad we did.

There is little wonder why Mision de los Arcos is rated #1. The building is well constructed and maintained. Staff and all aspects of service were wonderful. Our room was nice, the bed was comfortable and everything worked. We had a view of the park-like entrance of the elementary school which provided interesting observation on lazy days at home. Other rooms have views of the central square.

If your Spanish is not polished the owner Sherry is available seemingly all the time. She can arrange tours and trips to the beach, teach you how to ride the local bus and direct you to the best shops, banks that exchange $$ and services like laundromats.

She will also direct you to restaurants, even though there is little need to go anywhere other than the hotel's restaurant Terra Cotta. It is also rated #1 in this area and for good reason. Food at every meal of the day was top notch and the menu varied enough to keep you interested for several days. There is an English menu and several of the waiters speak enough English to be helpful.
