About Camp Schodack:
Camp Schodack is nestled in a picturesque wooded valley in the foothills of the Berkshires, beautiful campus of flat, grassy playing fields are surrounded by acres of stunning, private forest.
“We have never met children who are so friendly and so happy.”
Why do visitors at Schodack make this comment time and time again?
We think it's because Schodack is committed to creating an environment that brings out the absolute best in children, and in doing so we attract like-minded families looking for a certain set of values.
What are these values that are like an antidote to our rough and tumble 21st century life? They are simplicity, active participation, sharing, lots of laughter and exciting challenges. Because Schodack brings out the best of childhood, because campers thrive in our culture-of-kindness, they do not miss their TVs, computers, cell phones, and electronic games. Campers feel safe, loved, and appreciated—Schodack becomes like a second home.
And it shows. Most of our 140 staff grew up at Schodack and believe in what it stands for. Schodack is committed to its small size, family atmosphere and amazing traditions.
We hope this web site and video give you a glimpse of how we foster this special camaraderie and fun.
Structure and Choice
Your child's schedule will balance group bonding with personal choice and growth. We accomplish this by offering a combination of structure and choice to all age groups. Each bunk has a diverse, weekly schedule that includes every activity that Schodack has to offer. In addition, there are "choice" times each day when campers can choose to return to an activity they would like to experience more. This balanced schedule means that bunk bonding and friendships become extremely strong at Schodack, while each child's decision-making skills also strengthen and improve.

Bunk Activities
We offer six scheduled bunk activity periods each day – three periods take place in the morning, and three in the afternoon. Activity periods are taught by our specialized sports, arts and adventure staff and feature skill learning in a fun, active environment. The whole bunk of campers and their bunk counselors are together during these periods which makes for excellent participation and extra camaraderie.

Camper's Choice
In addition there are three Camper Choice Periods everyday where campers may choose to pursue their favorite activities or challenge themselves with something brand new. Every activity is available during Camper Choice Periods and is well supervised by our Activity Staff. Also, several of our Bunk Counselors offer specialized activities (such as cross country, creative writing, and yoga, to name just a few!) during this time, which are tremendously popular.

Special Events
There are tons of special events happening at Schodack – Carnivals, pool parties, talent and skit shows, incredibly spirited Tribals, competitive sports leagues, rocket launches and much more. These events are sprinkled throughout the camp schedule and often create some of the most lasting memories from the summer.
