You are bidding on a one week stay at this amazing farmhouse in Celleno, Italy.
A lovely two-storey stone country house an easy 90 minute drive north of Rome. Ideal for a vacation with children, the house is surrounded by undulating land, olive groves, and fruit trees -- a lot of outdoor space to run around and play. Three bedrooms: one large bedroom on the ground floor (with a queen-sized bed and a fold out futon couch); two bedrooms on the second floor, including a master bedroom (queen-sized bed) and a smaller bedroom with two single beds. A full bathroom on each floor (both have showers, one also a bathtub), a large kitchen, including a dish washer and a washing machine
Tastefully furnished and outfitted with bed sheets, towels, etc. There is a large living room with a cozy working fireplace for the cooler months. A large terrace that looks out on the medieval castle of Celleno has a long stone table seating up to 12 people. The outdoor pizza oven and grill add to the outdoor dining atmosphere and ease.
Day trips to Rome, Orvietto, Viterbo, Florence, Assissi, Siena, Perugia, Civita di Bagnoregio, Montefiascone, Tuscania, etc. 20 minutes to the largest volcanic lake in Europe with its crystal clear water, lago Bolzena, as well as the Papal Spa -- Terme dei Papi -- in Viterbo.
While Celleno has enough to keep you in food and drink -- a small but well stocked supermarket, a couple of butchers, a bakery, a pizza restaurant with a wood-burning oven, a couple of cafes -- you can also drive to Viterbo, Montefiascone or Bagnoregio for a bigger shop. These towns also have a satisfying number of very good restaurants.
Our house combines country-house privacy and tranquility with a comfortable closeness to town. No telephone or WIFI, but cafe in old Celleno has internet and a couple of computers available for a small fee.
Depending on the time of year, our garden offers tomatoes, cherries, nuts, edible chestnuts, kaki fruit, apples, pears, peaches and plums. You are welcome to eat them all!! The region is renowned for its olive oil, and, if you wish, you can buy it directly from the locals to take home with you, at a very reasonable price.
