Description
Bid for a private photography workshop for two (2) teaching Cultural Portraiture and Documentary Photography using the same course online that John Rizzo Photography teaches on their Africa & Asia Photo Tours; 6 lessons @ 1.5 hours each.
With over 30 years of combined photographer and educator experience, their focus is always on breaking down the mysteries of how digital cameras work and how to capture great moments by teaching the tools of how to execute professionally.
This workshop will cover the same material and teach the same techniques as their Workshops in Asia and Africa do to give you the tools to learn how to execute and get you started on improving your work. The workshop will meet once a week to teach new skills and will also include one-on-one critiques of your weekly assignments to expedite your learning. The following topics will be covered:
Fundamentals of Digital Photography, including: Raw vs. Jpeg format, Bokeh, Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, Depth of Field, Image Stabilization, Histograms and Rule of Thirds.
Using Portable Flash Outdoors: Learn how to use battery powered flash systems with umbrellas and Pocket Wizard radio slave units to create studio light in any environment.
Panning: Learn how to pan moving subjects to emphasize movement and add dynamic effects to your photographs without relying on software.
Light: Learn how to see light, use light, and manipulate light to get the shot you want. Learn the tricks of how to get beautiful images in bad light.
Testimonials from clients and past workshop participants:
"As the Director of the Foreign Press Association I have worked with many photojournalists, but none have measured up to the outstanding work done by John Rizzo. I first met John after September 11th and his photos of that disaster attest to his remarkable skill and sensitivity to the subject. He is an artist in his field." Suzanne Adams, Director, Foreign Press Association, New York
"I often called on John because he could create complex sets for conceptual images that we needed to illustrate stories on really tight deadlines. High concept, clean lines and fast turnaround is what we needed and he delivered." Lisa Burroughs, former Director of Creative Photography, Newsweek
"John knows how to connect with his subjects and bring forth their best." Aiko Masazumi, Creative Director, Westchester Magazine
"John gets it...he knew what we were trying to accomplish, was fast and efficient in producing projects, and this took a big burden off of me, especially for international work. That's why we have worked with him for over 10 years." Tracy Wahler, former Vice President of Communications, Futures Industry Association.
?I was given the wonderful opportunity to travel to Cambodia and Vietnam this past spring break. I went into the trip having some decent knowledge of how to work my camera and take pretty good photos, but after working with John Rizzo, the photojournalist that accompanied my group during the trip, I discovered that there was so much more to perfecting my photos that I had previously known. From useful tips to help achieve the optimum exposure in any light setting, to helping me take photos of people confidently, my photographic skill set grew larger while the time spent editing my photos grew smaller. Going on this trip has given me the ability to portray a meaningful story of a cultural experience while developing my photographic skills in a way that I never have before. I hope to continue developing my photography for the rest of my life, and this trip gave me a wonderful basis on how to do that while studying something that means a lot to me.? Gianna Scolini, The Athenian School
"Being a student of John Rizzo has been one of the greatest learning experiences in my life. All through school you encounter teachers who seem not to care much about the students that they teach or about the subject that they're teaching. This is far from the experience that John brings to his students. In the time that I was his student he got me excited about photography again and poured out the wealth of knowledge to anyone who would take the time to listen. I personally think that a teacher who is so excited about their subject can't help but get his students impassioned as well. This is the best kind of teacher and unfortunately the rarest kind as well. I am glad that I got to learn from John and the quality of my work has grown leaps and bounds because of his guidance." Allen French, New England School of Photography
