TOUR ITINERARY:

Day 1: Marrakech arrival

Full day guided city tour of Marrakech. The capital of the south, Marrakech is an enchanting city and one of the country?s most popular destinations. The tour of the ?Red City? will begin with the world-famous Jema El Fna Square, which houses an array of food, snake charmers, local musicians, and fortune-tellers. Next, stop at the 12th century Koutoubia Minaret. We will also visit the Bahia Palace and the Saadia Tombs before going to the medina to spend free time in the souks. Dinner on your own and overnight in Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech

After breakfast, we will take a trip to a local market, or souk, in the medina for grocery shopping. There you will learn to bargain with local souk merchants, to test the ripeness of fruits and the freshness of spices. You will have a mini-Arabic course so that when you come back on your own you will be able to order for yourself. Lunch will be provided at your riad. Meet at 5pm to prepare for the class. Cooking demonstration and lesson at the riad, followed by dinner. Overnight in the Riad.

Day 3: Marrakech ? Ouirgane - Marrakech

After breakfast, we will take a day trip to Ouirgane, located about 90 minutes away, in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. With a gentle winter and a moderate summer, this heart of the Amazigh countryside is ecologically rich. Pictures of the abundant citrus trees, rose gardens, and forests will make a perfect addition to your photo album. We will tour the village and have lunch there before returning to Marrakech for overnight.

Day 4: Marrakech

You will have free time to explore the city before another guided cooking lesson in the afternoon. Feel free to ask your guide for sightseeing suggestions. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 5: Marrakech - Essaouira ? Marrakech

As a result of these influences, Essaouira has become the premiere destination for artists and intellectuals. Don?t leave Essaouira without visiting the local artisans, who are known for their marquetry furniture??intricate designs inlaid in the roots of cedar. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
