Description
Bid to attend a 5 day fashion accessories and jewelry making class at Casa De Campo's World Famous Art School, Altos De Chavon in the Dominican Rebublic.
STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO CREATE ACCESSORIES:
- Belts, rings, bracelets and earrings
- Students will learn how to buy wholesale accessories for resale
- Students will learn how to establish an online or traditional store
- Students will learn how to set up a home workshop and office
ADDITIONALLY:
- Students will learn methods used in the design and creation of jewelry
- Students will fabricate their own designs in the studio
- The Class includes a field trip to Santo Domingo, a tour and lecture at a leading silver lost wax casting, fabrication and refining plant, followed by a window shopping experience looking at trends in a major Capital City mall
The Altos de Chavón School of Design is an educational center with worldwide impact, a pioneer in the teaching of art and design in the Dominican Republic. Founded in 1983 with the aim of satisfying the country's growing commercial and industrial demands, The School offers programs of study, of both long and short duration, in the areas of communication design, fashion design, fine arts, illustration, digital design, interior design, photography, film production, and architecture.
The School has campuses in Altos de Chavón, La Romana and Santo Domingo. The academic campus in La Romana consists of a complex of eight classrooms, a library, a computer lab, and a student hall, as well as administrative offices. The School maintains two student residences, which house approximately 125 students in 40 units. In Santo Domingo there are five classrooms for art workshops, a photography studio, two labs for digital workshops, and classrooms exclusively for the children and teen programs.
Through the more than 10,000 participants in all its programs, The School has affected the world of design both nationally and internationally. In 2006, the New York publication V Magazine named The Altos de Chavón School of Design one of the 13 best design schools in the world.
Professor Fraley began his journey as a master jewelry designer and metalsmith in 1982. He began working as an assistant professor in the jewelry design department at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He began teaching at Altos DeChavon six years ago and returns each summer and winter to inspire a new group of students. Fraley is a consultant for Uni/Icon Creations, a New York City based Jewelry Manufacturing Firm and designs for LisaFrank Jewelers. His clientele includes; high-level executives in the sports and entertainment.
Special Instructions
Valid for any future session with Professor Fraley - he usually teaches a winter and summer session.
