Description
Perfect for the Den!
This framed and matted print is hand-signed by Artist Guy Coheleach.
Plate No. XXVI--"This huge deer, commonly called the Elk in North America, weighs in at about 800 pounds the female at 600. Its name in no way makes it related to the European Moose, which is also call Elk. Wapiti are related to the Red Deer of Eurasia.
In the semi-open forests of the West it roams the mountains in summer and the valleys in the winter. There is nothing quite as thrilling as the sight of one of these huge stags carrying that magnificent rack of antlers.
My first view of this beautiful creature was in my mountain climbing days just after high school. I was alone at the timberline in the Monashee Mountains in Alberta, Canada. It was one of those rare experiences I shall never forget.
In the painting I used artistic privilege and placed the magnificent animal below the timberline in a setting of deep snow." - Guy Coheleach
