About Us
duoHOME opened in The Gordon Square Arts District in Cleveland's Detroit Shoreway neighborhood on 23 November 2007. The original duoHOME studio/store was approximately 750 square foot in a storefront in the historic BANK Building at the corner of W. 65th and Detroit Avenue. After three successful years of business, the original space became too small and on 05 June 2010, business partners Tim Kempf and Scott Suskowicz demonstrated their commitment to the neighborhood and the success of duoHOME by annexing an additional storefront, effectively doubling the duoHOME footprint to almost 1500 square feet. This expansion allowed duoHOME to showcase even more furniture and home accessories while still serving as the home base for the design studio offices of duoHOME owners Kempf and Suskowicz.
In 2013, duoHOME was growing and changing again, this time with the decision to move the retail operation and design office to The Shops on Fairmount on Fairmount Boulevard and South Taylor Road, in the tony suburb of Cleveland Heights. By joining the block anchored by venerable interior design firms Paysage and Paul Hamlin Interiors and other like-minded retailers, duoHOME solidified the goal of The Shops on Fairmount to become THE destination shopping district for design-savvy greater Cleveland consumers.
The mission of the retail aspect of duoHOME is to offer well-made, high-style home furnishings/accessories at a competitive price point as an alternative to "big box" stores. We offer personalized service and strive to present unique and eclectic items that don't haunt the shelves of every retail store in the greater Cleveland area. Additionally, we are committed to offering as many "green" products as possible, and try and incorporate green principles into our design projects.
Many clients ask about our studio name - the name duoHOME was carefully chosen to reflect our personal design philosophies. "duo" refers to the synergy between the two business partners, the concept of being both a retail storefront and an interior design studio and the equal emphasis placed on products that are both well-made/affordably-priced and useful with a high sense of style. "HOME" is our design focus - clients often comment our store feels like someone's home. When planning interior solutions for clients, whether residential or commercial, we strive to create interiors that are welcoming, inviting, satisfying and comfortable - a place that feels like HOME.
