Take a 3-4 hour tour of the amazing and beautiful wildflowers, as well as the interesting and varied pollinators of the Rocky Mountains at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, Crested Butte, CO, led by Dr. David Inouye. David has worked at RMBL for 40 years studying hummingbirds, bumble bees, butterflies, pollination biology, the impacts of climate change, and other aspects of wildflower biology. His work, supported by the National Science Foundation, has been featured at the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival, botanic gardens including the US Botanic Garden, Missouri Botanical Garden, and in many magazine and newspaper articles.
Special Instructions
Tour could be by car with sites near the road or a hike up a local peak, or a combination of both. RMBL is at 9,500 feet, about 8 miles outside Crested Butte, CO. Best time is July when the wildflowers are at peak, but tour can be scheduled between June 1 and September 1, 2014.
