Description

An attorney, engaged artist/designer and philanthropist, Jenny Do founded the Green Rice Gallery and curated numerous exhibitions designed to promote Vietnamese American arts and culture and to raise awareness on social issues impeding the advancement of her community and other groups. She sat on the San Joses Arts Commission, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the City of San Jose in 2007 and an unsolicited Belle Foundation grant in 2005. Her works and story have been featured on the Oprah Winfrey show, Time-Warner Production and many other programs on national and local media.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1963, Ellen Brook began her artistic journey in California. Investigations into consciousness and meditation led to her discovery of painting on silk. Her artistic explorations revealed a deep resonance with the spontaneity, sensuality and visual poetry available in this art form as well as the global historical and cultural connections embodied in it. In addition to her art practice, Ellen also designs and creates original, hand-made womens silk clothing. Her artwork has been exhibited in solo and group shows, and she has partnered with numerous non-profit and social organizations.
