In 1986, New York optician Richard Morgenthal purchased the iconic Frederics Opticians, and the first Morgenthal Frederics store was born on Madison Avenue. Richard Morgenthal’s protégé, Jeff Press, was named chief designer, and launched Morgenthal Frederics iconic eyewear nationwide. Our plastic frames are hand crafted from sheet acetate in Japan and France and our signature one-of-a-kind buffalo horn frames are hand milled by master craftsmen in Germany.
