Artist Peter Fromme-Douglas grew up in the northern woods of Ontario, Canada along the rugged and picturesque shores of Lake Superior. His environment instilled in him a great love of the outdoors and all of nature's wonders. At age 14, Peter moved to Toronto with his family. Upon entering Grade 10 Peter's high school art teacher was quick to recognize his artistic talents and sent him to the private New School of Art. He started in 1974 entering his numerous paintings of flowers, animals and portraiture in local exhibitions and competitions. These works were executed in a number of different mediums. Peter had developed his own style by combining airbrush technique, pencil, guache, watercolour and ink. By 1975 he was winning every award available. In 1982 he began working on a series of women. Peter had discovered that the most significant effect of the then, rare airbrush was the controlled graduations that he could achieve while depicting the soft and supple faces of the women he choose to paint. Who were these women? Peter had chosen some of the great silver screen stars of the thirties and forties.
