The winner of this package will receive a pair of tickets to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Los Lonely Boys perform at the Pearl Concert Theater on August 1, 2014.
Five-time GRAMMY-nominated and multi-platinum selling blues/rock guitarist, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, along with GRAMMY-award winning trio Los Lonely Boys, are set to co-headline at The Pearl inside Palms Casino Resort on August 1, 2014 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $35, plus any additional service fees
Two decades into a recording career that began when he was 16, Kenny Wayne Shepherd has built an enviable resume as an accomplished recording artist, a riveting live performer and one of the most talented and distinctive guitarists of his generation. He’s also emerged as one of the contemporary blues world’s leading lights, helping to spearhead a widespread revival of interest in the blues.
Shepherd’s much-anticipated 2014 release Goin’ Home is due out May 19. Goin’ Home first began to take shape when Shepherd decided to take advantage of an 11-day gap in his touring schedule. Rather than use the time to take a break, he rerouted his tour bus to Shreveport and headed for Blade Studios, run by Shepherd's hometown friend and respected drummer/producer Brady Blade, renowned for his work with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle and Dave Matthews. Armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of American Blues, Shepherd and his band—singer Noah Hunt, ex-Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton, former Firm bassist Tony Franklin and keyboardist Riley Osbourn, whose voluminous credits include work with B.B. King, Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker—cut 22 songs, with no studio trickery and minimal overdubbing.
Also lending their talents on Goin’ Home are several talented friends who shared Shepherd’s enthusiasm for the project’s back-to-basics ethos. Those guests include fellow guitar icons Joe Walsh, Warren Haynes, Keb’ Mo’ and Robert Randolph, longtime friend Ringo Starr, Fabulous Thunderbirds front man Kim Wilson, the Rebirth Brass Band and co-producer Blade’s father, Pastor Brady Blade Sr., who lends a bracing dose of preaching to Shepherd’s version of Bo Diddley’s “You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover.”
Hailing from San Angelo, TX, GRAMMY-award winning sibling trio Los Lonely Boys, whose music draws equally from Rock, Blues, Tex-Mex, Conjunto and Tejano, co-headline this amazing night of live music. The unique combination of musical styles is shaped by the band’s three brothers: guitarist Henry Garza, bassist JoJo Garza, and drummer Ringo Garza, Jr. Their newest release, Revelation (2014), is a landmark release for the siblings. While maintaining the infectiously melodic mix of bluesy rock ‘n’ roll and rootsy brown-eyed soul that’s long endeared Los Lonely Boys to its fiercely loyal fan base, Revelation adds an expansive range of new sonic elements, e.g. the conjunto touches of “Blame It On Love,” the reggae groove of “Give A Little More,” the rustic acoustic textures of “It’s Just My Heart Talkin’” and the baroque pop elements of “There’s Always Tomorrow.”
The brothers also collaborated with an eclectic cast of co-writers in assembling the dozen new original songs that comprise Revelation, including alt-country icon Radney Foster, in-demand pop tunesmiths Matthew Gerrard and David Quiñones, Black-Eyed Peas collaborators George Pajon Jr. and Keith Harris, and Raul Pacheco of Ozomatli.
Revelation marks Los Lonely Boys’ first recording work since Henry Garza sustained serious injuries in a fall from the stage during a February 2013 performance in Los Angeles, necessitating a lengthy and ongoing recovery period. The abiding sense of family unity and creative rapport that allowed the band to weather such a potentially devastating event has been built into Los Lonely Boys from the beginning. Indeed, Henry, Jojo and Ringo have been making music together for their entire lives.
The boys recorded their debut album, 2003’s Los Lonely Boys, at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales studio in Austin with Nelson sitting in. Epic Records picked the album up for major-label distribution in March 2004, resulting in a high chart placement for the album’s lead single, “Heaven,” as well as a GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Performance the following year. The Boys released their eagerly awaited sophomore album, Sacred, in 2006, and Forgiven in 2008. Keep on Giving: Acoustic Live!, their first release on the Lonelytone/Playing in Traffic imprints was issued in the fall of 2010. Los Lonely Boys returned all original material with 2011’s Rockpango – a made-up Spanish word that the band translates to English as “rock party.” During their career, Los Lonely Boys have been GRAMMY-nominated six times and have sold more than 3.3 million albums to date.
