Description

This block print is based on the house at 146 Leonard Street in Annisquam. Designed and hand-printed by Folly Cove Designer Margaret (Peggy) Norton in 1958. The 100% cotton fabric measures 37" x 107" with 18 full repeats.

We are grateful for a second year donation of Folly Cove designer Peggy Norton's print work, from her family.

The Folly Cove Designers group was started in 1939 by Virginia Lee Burton. They were designer-craftsmen with a common interest – producing good design and good craftsmanship.

The group, composed of a number of men and women, mostly residents of Cape Ann, operated in a manner similar to the Medieval Guilds. Each member worked in his own home or studio, meeting as a group once a month for criticism and exchange of ideas. Though members conformed to the general principles of design, each individual was encouraged to develop and express their own personality.
