Sigrid had created a new collection of paintings for Spring/Summer 2013 that are a departure from the watercolor/block print mixed media pieces she has painted to date. This new work is inspired by nature as always. It speaks to the teeming energy of living matter that surrounds us every day with the idea that we are all connected by it and in it. Nature thrives even when neglected or ignored, yet it is there to soothe, invigorate or center us whenever we need it. The imagery is derived from plant life, seed pods, plants, leaves, flowers, seaweed...captured in richly textured, colorful abstract acrylic paintings that are created by building layers of color and form on the surface of paper and/or artist panels.
