In the early 1920s a group of Shriners from Chicago's Medinah Temple had a dream to create a country retreat.    The club's distinctive clubhouse and three golf courses sit on more than 600 acres. Medinah was originally open only to Shriners, however the clubhouse architect, Richard G. Schmid, "had a flair for blending the classic lines of Byzantine, Oriental, Louis XIV, and Italian architecture characteristic of many Masonic structures. Medinah has hosted U.S. Opens and PGA Championships, among other big tournaments, and has been selected for the 2012 Ryder Cup.  This course is also rated no. 32 by Golf Magazine of the top 100 golf courses in the United States.
