Description
Point Reyes National Seashore Association is proud to partner with our friends at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University to present four tickets in orchestra level seating to Bobby McFerrin on Friday, April 10, 2015.
Start out this amazing evening by picking up your gourmet picnic basket for four, brimming with delicious cheeses, crackers, olives, dips, charcuterie and wine from our friends at Oliver's Market in Cotati. Oliver's specializes in delicious organic and local products that you're sure to love. Enjoy your picnic before the concert on the lawn outside the Green Music Center's Weill Hall at Sonoma State University, then grab your seats to enjoy the one-of-a-kind musical experience that can only be Bobby McFerrin.
For decades, Bobby McFerrin has broken all the rules. The 10-time Grammy Award-winner has blurred the distinction between pop music and fine art, goofing around barefoot in the world’s finest concert halls, exploring uncharted vocal territory, and inspiring a whole new generation of a cappella singers and the beatbox movement. He redefined the role of the human voice with his a cappella hit “Don’t Worry, Be Happy;” his collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea, and the Vienna Philharmonic; his improvising choir Voicestra; and his legendary solo vocal performances. He is a true musical pioneer.
Not only will you and three friends enjoy the improvisational brilliance of Bobby McFerrin, but you will be in one of the best venues in the country, right in the heart of Northern California's renowned Wine Country. The Donald and Maureen Green Music Center is a world-class performing arts complex located on the campus of Sonoma State University, and its crown jewel is undoubtedly the 1,400-seat Joan and Sanford I. Weill Hall, which is considered one of the most acoustically superb concert venues in the world.
Designed by architect William Rawn, theatre consultant Auerbach Pollock Friedlander and acoustician Lawrence Kirkegaard, Weill Hall was designed to replicate the intimacy and acoustics of both Vienna’s Musikverein and Symphony Hall in Boston. Weill Hall is modeled after Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, including a back wall that can be fully opened onto the beautifully landscaped and terraced Weill Lawn. The 1,400 handcrafted seats within Weill Hall were built by the 200-year-old Fancher Chair Company. Made of European steamed beech wood, the chairs feature an open back designed for acoustic-neutrality whether the seat is occupied or empty.
Don't miss your chance to see a music legend in one of the most acoustically superb and intimate concert venues in the world. Bid today!
