Marvelous Marine Mammal Excursion with Dr. Sarah G. Allen + Picnic Lunch for Six & Books

Item Number: 117
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Point Reyes National Seashore is one of the few places along the Pacific Coast and in fact in the world where you can view Pacific gray whales, Northern elephant seals, harbor seals and California sea lions all in one place. Now you and five friends can experience the magic of seeing these marvelous marine mammals on a privately guided tour with Dr. Sarah G. Allen, Ocean Steward of the National Park Service's Pacific West Region.
Dr. Allen will take you to some of her favorite spots, including the Point Reyes Lighthouse, Chimney Rock, Elephant Seal Overlook and Drakes Estero in search of the area's most abundant species. Dr. Allen is the co-author of the Field Guide to Marine Mammals of the Pacific Coast and has studied marine life from California to Antarctica for over 30 years. She will share interesting facts about the life cycles, physical features, adaptations and some of the quirky habits of these wonderful animals that may breathe like humans, but are suited to life in water. Your party may even get a chance to spot a rare sea otter, a pod of Orcas, or a variety of other whales including the largest mammal to ever live, the Blue whale. Your afternoon will end with a picnic lunch held at the Historic Lifeboat Station near Chimney Rock where the early Coast Guard risked life and limb to save passing ships, sailors and cargo from the rugged cliffs surrounding the Point Reyes Peninsula.
The winning bidder will also receive two essential Point Reyes books courtesy of Point Reyes Books:
A Field Guide to Marine Mammals of the Pacific Coast by Sarah G. Allen, Joe Mortenson and Sophie Webb and A Natural History of the Point Reyes Peninsula by Jules G. Evens.
This package is great for all ages, small school groups or the marine mammal lover in your life.
