After playing his college baseball at San Diego State University and pitching for the 2008 U.S. Olympic baseball team, Strasburg was selected as the top overall pick in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft by the Washington Nationals. One year later, on June 8, 2010, he made his major league debut with the Nationals. In 2012, Stragsburg was named to National League All-Star team.
