Cindy,  had this response to the request of this wonderful little Orca:

 A big part of our whaling museum mission is conservation and awareness of our relation with whales. (this is a great way to teach our children) Here is Cindy's description:

Inspired by my work as an educator at the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum, I've designed a signature whale, dubbed the Murphy Whale (in honor of our museum's founder, Robert Cushman Murphy). Each Murphy Whale is sewn by me (mostly with the help of a sewing machine) out of a combination of patterned and solid fabrics that seem to suit each whale's personality. 

Murphy Whales generally measure about 10 inches long and close to 6 inches tall (to the top of the flukes). To keep them extra cuddly, I like to stick with fleece, felt and flannel. Since the eyes are the windows to the soul, no two Murphys will have exactly the same, although they are all safety eyes (just to be safe).
