The Beekman Boys, Josh and Brent, founded Beekman 1802 after finding and purchasing a 9th Century farm, Beekman Mansion, in Sharon Springs, NY. With both of them having high stress jobs in New York City, the idea of simple, country living appealed to them. Beekman 1802 is a lifestyle company devoted to seasonal living.

In 2010, they became the starts of their own reality TV series, The Fabulous Beekman Boys on Plant Green. It followed their lives as they worked to develop the Beekman brand to the point where they could live on the farm full-time. In 2012, they were able fulfill their dream of full-time farm living after participating in and winning The Amazing Race.
