Description

Ever wonder what it like to be a firefighter? This is your chance to get a hands on view of a firefighter. As a volunteer firefighter certified by www.sffma.org, certified wildland firefighter with the Texas Forest Service, and Emergency Medical Responder certified by www.nremt.org, I will provide an overview of the firesuit (a.k.a. bunker gear) and air management with a SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). I will then give you a review of a fire engine and all the tools on the engine. This includes the pneumatic tools for cutting open cars, tools use in fire fighting, tools used to hook up to a hydrant, etc. I will then show you how to manage pump operations. We will then switch over to a brush truck. I will show you how to fight wildland fires (and grass fires) with a brush truck. There is one caveat. The fire engine and brush truck are actually in service. In the event of a fire or other emergency, the training would be postponed and redone at another time.

Special Instructions

You must be able to travel to Sunnyvale, Texas for the training. I will work with you to schedule a convenient time. Sunnyvale is approximately 12 miles East of OneBell (208 S. Akard, Dallas, TX).
