2012 Dos Rubios Vineyard Pinot Noir

The Dos Rubios Estate is in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands, an appellation known for world class Pinot Noir. It is a well-run partnership between vineyard owner Kirk Williams, winemaker Bill Brosseau and winery owners Rob and Diana Jensen.

The weather during the 2012 vintage in the Santa Lucia Highlands was a textbook season marked by moderate conditions from beginning to end of the season. Calm and steady weather patterns resulted in larger than expected yields. This is the third vintage release from the Dos Rubios Vineyard and the 2012 is our best effort yet.

The 2011 Pinot Noir was given 94 Points from The Wine Enthusiast. The 2012 has not yet been submitted for review, but indicative of the 2012 vintage, it is one of the best wines we have ever made.

Dark red garnet color. Brilliant aromas of violets, bing cherry, anise, papaya, and orange blossoms. Upon taste, the violet, cherry and citrus notes become more concentrated while the tannins get smoother and silkier. Subtle oak notes give weight to the palate without masking the vineyard essence. While hedonistic now, this multi-clone blend will continue to gain complexity and distinction with time. Drink now through 2020. ~Bill Brosseau
