The winning bidder will select a theme for a wine tasting for a party of 8 at Rosenthal Wine Merchant in Manhattan.  Your host, Will Helburn, will guide your guests through the wine region of your choice as they taste a variety of wines that best exemplify the qualities of each grape and the nuances and differences those grapes express when planted in different vineyard sites.

In the late 1970s, Neal Rosenthal opened a retail wine store, Rosenthal Wine Merchant, and subsequently moved on to the wine-importing business.  Today he is one of the most successful importers of traditionally made wines crafted at limited-production, family-owned vineyards in France and Italy.  The Rosenthal Wine Merchant retail store uniquely features Rosenthal's imported selections.

As a U.S. importer representing over 100 small and artisanal wineries, Neal visits these wineries yearly to taste and select the most classic and representative bottlings which express not only the innate character of each grape but also the additional elements and nuances that derive from the place these grapes are planted.  This aspect of "place" that marks the best wines is commonly known as "Terroir" and this concept defines the greatest wines of Europe and other "old world" wine regions.

Having worked with Neal for over 30 years, Will has had the opportunity to visit virtually all of these wineries many times.  It is this familiarity with the wines and winemakers that enables him to provide an extra level of guidance and sophistication to his clients.  Will's loyal followers are always impressed by his commanding knowledge and exquisite service.
