Description
The winning bidder will receive two (2) bottles of wine from the Peter Michael Winery in Sonoma County, California - a 2010 Le Moulin Rouge Pinot Noir and a 2011 La Carriere Chardonnay.
Le Moulin Rouge Pinot Noir, 2010
Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey County
Rated 94 points by The Wine Advocate
The vineyard's coastal soil and climate contribute a dense, yet delicate richness and complexity. The 2010 reveals lots of cassis, black raspberry jam, spring flower and loamy, dusty soil notes as well as a full-bodied, opulent style.
La Carrière Chardonnay, 2011
Knights Valley, Sonoma County
Rated 93 points by The Wine Advocate
La Carrière, "the quarry," was named for its bowl shape and tremendously rocky soils. The evolved and seductive 2011 exhibits a light straw color as well as notes of honeyed brioche, orange marmalade, buttery citrus and terrific fruit.
In 1982, Sir Peter Michael established the Peter Michael Winery on a square mile of rockey volcanic ridges that form the western edge of Mount St. Helena in Sonoma County. From the beginning, the wine growing philosophy was modeled on the French tradition infused with a few modern influences: One, the vineyard terroir would be the single most important feature, and two, the wines would be elegant rather than overstated.
The Peter Michael estate has grown considerably, and those looking for some of the best Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blancs can do no better than the wines from the Peter Michael Winery.
