Information on Col Robert L. Howard, USA, MOH
SFC Howard's platoon was trapped by the NVA. He and his leader were wounded and separated from their men. Unable to walk, he crawled through a hail of fire to save his leader and from to man inspiring them to defeat repeated attacks. Despite his many wounds he was last to board the rescue helo.
He is one of the highest decorated American Soldiers.
He was recommended three times for MOH’s for different actions before finally receiving it.
Robert Howard posed for this statue and granted the sculptors permission to create a monumental sculpture at some future time.
