Vintage/Antique Pennsylvania Dutch KNOTTED CRAZY QUILT w CHICKEN STITCHES

Item Number: 183
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
From Lancaster County, home of the PA Dutch and Amish (Plain Folks), this is a hand made crazy quilt made from assorted remnants of fabrics. I don'tknow the names of the fabrics used but some are defintely cotton, satin, others a heavier and rougher surface and some appear to be rayon.
The quilt is entirely hand made with "Chicken stitches" holding the pieces together. Crazy quilts have no pattern, just random pieces of material all shapes and sizes that ultimately create a square or rectangular finished quilt.
Nice and thick but does have wear! This was used, not a wall hanging, 1 rip through a large lavendar patch and the piece completely worn away - look for the white patch. Still a great decor piece.
