Davidson, who was born in Cumberland, Maryland, is best known for his painitings of American nanval engagements and as an illustrator of children's books. He was the first pupil of Mauritz F. H. de Hass in New York City. He exhibited regularly at the Nation Acadmeny of Design and the Salmagundi Club.
