Spin!, a wildly inventive new comedy drawn verbatim from the leaked e-mails, raunchy texts and tell-tale tweets that brought down politicians Anthony ("I Was Hacked") Weiner, Mark ("Appalachian Trail") Sanford, Larry ("Wide Stance") Craig and Mark ("Underage Page") Foley.
Using only the actual words of the disgraced politicians, their paramours and the skeptical media they tried so hard to spin, Tail! Spin! winningly weaves an intricate, overlapping narrative of the power of sex-and the sex lives of the powerful.
Created by Mario Correa (host of SiriusXM's Entertainment Weekly Radio and contributor to NPR & WNYC) and directed by Tony®-nominee Dan Knechtges (Lysistrata Jones, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Tail! Spin! features a cast of five including Arnie Burton (39 Steps, Peter and the Starcatcher), Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), Sean Dugan (Next Fall, Smash ), Tom Galantich (House of Cards) and Nate Smith (UCB, FunnyOrDie.com).
Tail! Spin! focuses on the sexual transgressions of four American politicians: Mark Sanford, the former governor of South Carolina who admitted to having an affair with a lover he had met while on vacation in Argentina; Larry E. Craig, a former Republican senator from Idaho who was caught in an undercover sex sting; and two former United States congressmen, Anthony Weiner of New York, who resigned over lewd online behavior, and Mark Foley of Florida, who resigned after he was caught sending sexually explicit texts to teenage Capitol Hill pages. The cast will portray some 30 different roles, including members of the media and the politicians¿ paramours and relatives.
