Description
Bid on an enrollment for one student to participate in one week of Maritime Gloucester’s Coastal Explorers Program aboard the Schooner Ardelle during the summer of 2015. Participants will sail on the Schooner Ardelle, a traditionally built pinky schooner under the direction of NEA National Heritage Fellow and Master Shipwright, Captain Harold Burnham, his experienced crew, and Maritime Gloucester Educators.
Elementary students will spend mornings aboard the Ardelle exploring the marine life of Gloucester Harbor and afternoons in Maritime Gloucester’s labs and aquarium. Middle and High School students will spend each day voyaging to and exploring other coastal communities and islands along the North Shore. During the program, students will have an opportunity to participate in all areas of shipboard life, from hauling sails to hauling lobster traps!
