Description
Made by Fall Creek artist Mel Sundby, this beautiful hand-crafted bowl is created using the Japanese "Raku" process, which dates back to the 15th century.
Trained as a classical artist, Mel Sundby has chosen to work mostly with clay sculpture. The face and human figure comprise the majority of his subject matter. He also builds clay bowls fired with the Raku method, as well as painting and using watercolor and acrylic media.
Mel earned an MFA from the University of Iowa in 1969. He has taught in all levels of art education from primary school to graduate school. Mel is now a retired art instructor from Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Mel has shown at various art exhibitions throughout the years and his work is available in galleries in the tri-state area. He has won numerous awards of excellence for his work.
