Description
River Alliance friend Caryl Terrell wants you to have her beloved Old Town Tripper Canoe. Caryl bought the canoe from an active member of the Sierra Club River Touring Group years ago. He tested this canoe on many Canadian wild river adventures. The canoe comes with everything (used but serviceable) you need to kickstart your paddling adventures, including 2 sets of paddles, 2 cushions, 2 shoulder padded careers, and rack attachments.
This 17' 2" canoe lives up to its name as the legendary ride of choice for families, Boy Scout troops, church groups, and other gangs of buddies heading off on great adventures to the Boundary Waters, down the Wisconsin, the Chippewa, the Upper St. Croix and other wonderful destinations. An Old Town Tripper is made of Royalex (called Oltonar by Old Town). Old Town was the first manufacturer to mass produce canoes out of this tough, slick, material that was such an immediate improvement over aluminum. To prove that these were canoes that could REALLY take a lickin,' Old Town literally threw a Tripper off the top of their factory! What happened? Well, that's the point; NOTHING happened. The canoe was just fine, and so have thousands of others, in the hands of both novices and the experienced. The Old Town Tripper canoe has even built a widespread subculture of fans among those who return to the wilderness year after year.
While it is a tandem canoe, many experienced paddlers enjoy using it as a solo. As a boat to take kids or grand kids for a paddle down the river or around a lake, it'd be hard to beat. And because it is a Royalex boat, maintaining your Tripper is almost an afterthought.
