Artist Francis Bernard (1900-1979) was born in Marseilles where he attended classes at the local art school before moving on to Paris where he attends The Beaux Arts (the school of fine arts) He later joins the Union des Artistes Moderne founded by Rene Herbst along with other major artist in particular Cassandre,Carlu,Colin, and Loupot. Bernhard worked for many of the same clients as Cassandre and Loupot creating modern posters stripped of ornament and decoration.
