Description
Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, 951 Chicago Avenue, Oak Park, IL
Frank Lloyd Wright used his first home to experiment with design concepts that contain the seeds of his architectural philosophy. In his adjacent studio, Wright and his associates developed a new American architecture - the Prairie style. Trained interpreters offer insights into Wright's family life and architectural career.
Chicago was the birthplace of Wright’s vision for a modern American way of living. Wright’s Prairie style, developed at his Oak Park Studio, played an integral role in cementing Chicago’s reputation as a center for innovative architecture and design. Today, the city and its suburbs are home to the greatest concentration of Wright buildings in the world. But Chicago would also have a powerful effect on Wright. The city offered the young architect an immersive environment of creativity and inspiration that shaped his architectural philosophies and laid the foundation for his future career.
