Description
This is a very special piece donated by one of our fosters. Her words were so special that I wanted to share them with all of you:
"This is a piece of porcelain that was hand painted by my mother before she passed away suddenly in 2006. She is the one that gave me my first dachshund when I was 2 years old. Molly survived being hit by a motorcycle which caused paralysis, but with home therapy she ended up walking. Then she was stolen from outside our home and 4 weeks later she came running up to my dad on Christmas Eve as he was getting gifts out of the car. BEST Christmas present ever! I don't even remember the store bought gifts received that year...I just knew Santa got Molly back for me. Molly crossed the Rainbow Bridge during my senior year of high school (cancer is what finally took her). Yes, I did miss school because of it and my mom wrote a note telling them to please excuse me from school for the past two days as there was a death in the family.
What I can tell you about this piece is that it is 5" x 8" x 2.5". It is a trinket box. The pictures do not do it justice. The colors are pink, purple, peach, and some green. My mother was an accomplished and award-winning artist of different types of medium but her passion was painting on porcelain. Each piece took numerous firings to complete. This piece has been signed by my mom, Patsy Alexander. I am donating this to LPDR, in her memory, to help raise funds for the rescue of dachshunds. Had my mom been here, I would have already had her on the task of painting something for the auction! Thankfully I have a small inventory of some of her pieces and I could not think of a better cause for one of them to go toward."
