Description
Hardmade Woodworks in Coconut Grove specializes in reclaiming urban trees that have been struck by lightning or have fallen in hurricanes. In the capable hands of RE parent Ken Russell, these trees find a second life as beautiful works of art and furniture.
"This free form-bench was hand shaped from the single heart of a Cuban Mahogany tree that came down during Hurricane Wilma between Coconut Grove and Coral Gables. This rare wood was prized by the famous Chippendale Cabinet Maker in England and was nearly harvested out of existence. The grain is so dense, it can be sanded to a marble-like reflective finish. Hand-rubbed with 10 coats of Danish Oil, this bench is mounted on three chromed mid-century Hairpin legs designed by Henry P. Glass."
Winning bidder receives free delivery and installation by the artist.
