Description

Private Tour of the Contemporary Art Collection acquired by Martin Edelston (z"l), , Founder Boardroom, Inc.

A pillar of the Stamford community, Martin Edelston (z"l),  was known for his brilliance, intellect, creativity and his keen selection of art. He threw himself into acquiring work with the kind of enthusiasm that all true collectors share. Where his contemporary materials ware concerned, his approach was eclectic and varied. Over many decades, Martin collected a breadth of works that amounted to collections to rival any in contemporary art museums. His choices were dictated less by the concerns of the classic connoisseur than by the way in which he felt he had learned from the pieces about important social or cultural issues. One such collection, "Lessons in Life" consisting specifically of photographs, was donated to the Art Institute of Chicago and became one of their most popular photo exhibits. Artist on display include Eric Goode, John Salvest, Starn Twins, William Stone and more.

Today, selections from his contemporary art acquisitions remain on display at the Boardroom, Inc. headquarters.

If you appreciate the eclectic nature of contemporary art, this tour will most certainly satisfy.
