Additional info:

Prunus x ‘Purple Pride’ PP 23742 is SFA Gardens first patented plant. What is unique about this purple leaf plum is native Chickasaw plum genetics. ‘Purple Pride’ is a chance seedling of Prunus angustifolia ‘Guthrie’, found by Charles Webb of Superior Trees in Florida.   Key attributes are fast growing, clean foliage, unaffected by most diseases afflicting purple leaf plums, drought resistance, and wet soil tolerance. While we have observed a few light fruit crops, it is a light bearer and we recommend Methley plum as a nearby pollinator. Plant in full sun. For more information, contact Dr. Dave Creech at SFA Gardens, Nacogdoches, TX 75962-3000.
