Your ancestors & the Civil War, expert genealogy research at the National Archives

Item Number: 104
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Obsessive research by genealogist Jonathan McHale to document the life of your civil war ancestor. If they fought for the Union (sorry, Confederate soldiers were not eligible for federal pensions) McHale will document every day of their service on record with his 15 years of Civil War research experience. Pension files are a treasure trove of genealogical information, and he will offer half a day of his genius at the National Archives in Washington DC. Like a dog after a bone, he'll find records on your ancestor and forward copies to you with additional annotations and insight. McHale is a notable scholar-diplomat trained at Brown and Columbia University. When he is not sneaking around graveyards and reading through stacks of Civil War journals, he actually has a life, but your relative's civil war record comes first.
