Description

Even chess world champs have to start somewhere, and they’d still be playing like beginners if they hadn’t mastered the basics! Send your child to a week of Academic Chess Camp at St. John's on Lake Street. Camp meets from 12:00 - 4:00 daily with snacks provided and pizza on Friday. Academic Chess Camp emphasizes community, fun, learning, and good sportsmanship. Your child will have instruction and exercises to reinforce chess principles, learn about historic games, play games on thier giant chess set, and enjoy alternate activities like hikes into the Presidio, theater, gymnastics and yoga.

"My boys took the camp and loved it! They hiked through the Presidio so they got outside but they also played (and learned) a lot of chess which they loved. They had a tournament at the end of the week as well which was very fun for them."

                                                         -- Linda M.

"Jesse is a wonderful chess teacher; skilled at the game itself but also easy-going and fun. My son has done his summer camp a few times and always enjoyed it!"

                                                         -- Amy A.
