This stunning work of art, entitled "Zarzis," is by acclaimed artist and Saint Mary's Hall's 3D Art and Art History teacher.  From her current body of work reflecting on her visits to North Africa, this piece has been exhbited in Fare Thee Well, a selected exhbition at UTSA. 


ARTIST STATEMENT:

ar·ti·fact [ahr-tuh-fakt] noun

Definition 1. Any object made by human beings; characteristic of a culture, previous era or contemporary society.

Definition 2. An artificial structure or substance not naturally found in the matter being observed, but formed by artificial means which may result from an investigative procedure.

I collect artifacts that hold a human mystery, an essence of a person, place or time. My creative process is an investigation and a dialogue with the tangible and intangible aspect of the items we leave behind.
