Item Number: 296

Description
Embedded devices are everywhere; you have heard the saying "Even the coffee machine has a computer in it." Well that could be true; they are called "Micro Processors" they control simple things with a simple task to perform. Give your child, 6th grade and older, the gift of creating a project that will introduce them to "Micro Processors", by creating a simple circuit, that will mimic a traffic light control system. Eric Johnson, husband of WHCS teacher Mrs. Johnson, will walk your child through the physical hardware construction, code writing (C++) and debugging the traffic control system. The system will consist of, 2 led lights for a 2 way stop, a button for pedestrians, and a Walk/Don't Walk light system. Your student will be able to bring the device home (with a correct programming cable), play with it using the DC source to power the device. This instructional period is about 2 hours and a physical printout of the code written to control the device will be brought home. Feel free to bring one friend along, however only one device will be provided.
