Song is the language of love!
Lessons to take place at Kingston Conservatory of Music.
Sarah has 29 years of performing experience. Sarah has studied voice, cello, guitar, bass, piano, dance, theater, and performance. She has a Bachelors from Berklee College of Music and a Masters in Education from Marist College. Her vocal training encompassed the following styles, jazz, blues, Broadway, gospel, pop and classical. This range of experience and skill enables her to teach in a kinesthetic, physically present and descriptively effective style of presenting vocal technique. With a focus on supporting student strengths Sarah leads students to find "their voice."
Sarah utilizes a variety of teaching techniques to help students to execute good vocal technique. These techniques include visual aids, movement, and descriptions of what the proper technique will feel like. Imagery is a powerful tool used to harness the mind to help the body to put into action what was otherwise difficult to master.
She has taught voice for 10 years and has shared the stage with Levon Helm, John Sebastian, Happy Traum, Artie Traum, James Earl Jones, Rick Danko, Amy Helm and many others. She is a singer/songwriter and has an extensive performance background including musical theatre, dance, cello, voice, and Balinese gamelan music.
Lesson topics include but are not limited to vocal technique, performance, acoustics, music interpretation, music theory, ear training, and improvisation.
