Wild Seed Apothecary (WSA) is working to change the relationship we have with nature.  The so-called weeds sprouting up in our gardens (dandelion, burdock, clover), the trees in our yards and forests (gingko, pine, black walnut), even the plants growing along roadsides (mints, mugwort, mullien) offer gifts of nourishment.  It is our intention to foster an awareness and appreciation of these gifts through our products and services.  We strive to bring herbs back into the daily routine, focusing on tonic recipes that support healthy functioning of the body systems and preventative care that nourishes the body, mind, and spirit.

WSA’s herbal products include extracts, vinegars, syrups, and skin care items that are handmade in small batches using certified organic oils and the highest quality plant material available. The medicinal plants used in our formulas are grown using biodynamic practices, wildcrafted in an ethical and sustainable manner or purchased from reputable sources that we trust.

HERBALIST:

WSA was founded in 2013 by Erin Domagal.  Her approach to herbalism is shaped by her experiences as an artist, an educator, and a gardener.  A longtime resident of New York’s Hudson Valley, she studied with Dina Falconi and Rosemary Gladstar, and has initiated an extensively detailed, never-ending independent study of herbalism.

 PRODUCT INFORMATION:

WSA considers the practice of herbalism to be an amalgamation of science and art. Our recipes are created with the careful consideration of aesthetic and aromatic attributes. WSA values an understanding and appreciation for the herbal palate and is on a mission to rescue the human palate from the regime of sugar and salt!

At Wild Seed Apothecary, we are committed to honoring plants.  All plant material used in our products are personally grown in a sustainable, organic manner; ethically wild-crafted; or purchased from reputable sources that share the same values regarding the careful cultivation of plants.   And while we love and value traditional herbalist practices from around the globe, we strongly believe in the importance of knowing and maintaining an experiential relationship with the plants we use to craft our products.  It is for this reason that the overwhelming majority of the plants we use are species that grow in New York’s Hudson Valley.  While not all of the plants are native to this region, we believe that being able to interact with and understand the plant increases its healing effectiveness.  The movement to eat local foods and foods that are in season exist in a similar vein of understanding (find your local food here).  Our products and services are geared toward helping others learn about the nourishment that nature provides.  We want to support others in understanding how plants provide medicinal qualities, how those qualities encourage healing in the body, and which plants in your own yard are edible or medicinal. Our herbal products are geared toward stocking your first aid kit.  WSA views first-aid kits as a pillar in the movement of reclaiming responsibility for our own health.  Learning how to read your own body, to know its limits and its needs is an imperative skill.  Our products are intended to support your body through common minor ailments, and act as preventative medicine that serves to nourish and strengthen the body.  We support your quest to learn how and when to use which plants to support your needs.  WSA’s Seasonal CSH is geared toward helping your body transition with the changes of nature’s cycle.
